Not that anybody sends me flowers...

I saw this advertisement on the sidebar of my e-mail account today:

1-800-Flowers.com: Flowers and gifts to say I'm sorry. Order today.

I don't know why, but for some reason I thought, "Is that all that people think flowers and gifts are for? How sad."

I know I'd appreciate it a whole lot more if somebody sent me flowers or bought me a gift "just because", rather than waiting until they need to apologize for something. "Just because" gifts are a rarity.

Yeah, totally random thought of the day...

Heehee... Gmail ads are good for making you think. I took a screencap of one that was advertising a program guaranteed to make you happy. As if visiting a website can immediately bring you things of true happiness - friends, family, etc.
As for your apologetic flowers... was there anything on the page/message you were sending about saying "sorry"? The GoogleAds seem to read your text and bring up any ad that matches specific words. ;)

I love just because gifts! Or as we say, Un-birthday gifts.

I think the sentiment behind "I'm sorry" gifts is "Actions speak louder than words." Of course, if you're sorry, the real action to take is to try and do better. Some people find flowers easier, though. Sad.
